Cornell, in Ithaca, New York, is one of the Ivy League's broadest schools: its founder, Ezra Cornell, wanted a school where any person could study any subject, and today that means everything from engineering and hotel management to agriculture and architecture. Dramatic gorges and Cayuga Lake surround the hilltop campus, so hiking, swimming and views are part of student life. Cornell is a big, ambitious community with a hard-working culture, great school spirit and cold winters.
